The 1996 Presidential Election, a special event of the Government and Public Service Pavilion, is announced and open. The 1996 presidential election is not only the first ever direct presidential election in Taiwan, the Republic of China but also unprecedented in Chinese history. In addition to provide presidential campaign related information, we are cooperating with the Central Election Commission to present a ballot-counting live on the web, starting at 4:00 p.m. Taiwan time, on March 23, the scheduled voting date. We cordially invite you to join us to witness the election.

The Government and Public Service Pavilion of the Pavilion of Taiwan, ROC is formally open to the public today at Taipei International Convention Center. Vice Premier Hsu Li-teh gave a speech and unveiled the pavilion at the Grand Opening ceremony. In the meanwhile, seven local governments launched their regional opening ceremony island wide.
